CAPITAL CAMPAIGN - FAQ

What is the goal of the campaign?
Our goal is to raise $2.3 million.

Who will be asked for a gift?
Everyone in the parish will be asked to participate in our capital campaign.

How long is the pledge period?
The pledge period can be up to 4 years.

What options do I have on method and schedule of payment?
Pledges can be made in the form of cash, direct deposit, check, credit cards (Visa and MasterCard ONLY), stocks or property. Pledges can be paid monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or annually.

How will I know when to send in my pledge?
Based on the date you establish in your Letter of Intent, a reminder will be sent per the payment method you have chosen or an envelope will be provided for your convenience.

What if we do not reach our goal?
The executive committee is committed to raising the necessary funds. We will prioritize our needs and complete those projects that funds received dictate. We will continue to seek funds to complete our project over an extended period of time.

When will the project begin?
According to the rules of the Archdiocese, we can start when we have received pledges totaling 50% of our goal. Typically, construction will begin 6-8 months after the Archdiocese has given final approval.

Will there be naming possibilities for major gifts?
Yes, there is a possibility to have an area or item named for a major gift consideration. Decisions will be made as the project unfolds.

Can a gift-in-kind be part of my commitment to the project?
Certain gifts-in-kind are acceptable in such a project. However, there are rules that have been established by the Archdiocese for accepting certain gifts-in-kind. The rules will be researched as the situation arises.

Will the rectory need to be razed?
Yes, it was deemed by our architect and Building Committee to be the most appropriate place for construction in relation to the school and church.

How will we defray the operating expenses of the new facility?
At this point in the project it is somewhat difficult to determine the operating expenses. However, sources of income could come from athletic tournaments or rental from receptions. The new facility will reduce current costs associated with the rental of other gym facilities.

What impact will the new facility have on the various groups and organizations in the parish?
We will be able to provide much needed meeting and storage space.

Will the parish center be handicap accessible?
Yes, an elevator will be a part of the project, making the new facility handicap accessible. Additional handicapped parking will be provided.

What will be done with the current gym?
For the foreseeable future it will remain in its current form.

Where will Father Richard Dressman reside?
Plans are in place to renovate the home currently on our grounds as Father's residence. (Formerly the Priest's house)

What impact will the new facility have on the configuration of the school?
St. Jude will reclaim four (4) classrooms for future expansion of the school.

Included in the new Parish Center will be the following:

  • Computer Lab (1)
  • New Library
  • Meeting Rooms (4)
  • Storage Space
