Congress has recently enacted a law permitting contributions from an IRA directly to a charitable organization. You may qualify to for this exemption if you are at least 70 1/2 years of age, own a traditional IRA or Roth IRA, the amount of the gift does not exceed $100,000 and the contribution takes place in 2007.
