CAPITAL CAMPAIGN - SCOPE OF PROJECT

St. Jude Parish has pursued appropriate steps to enhance its facilities and maximize campus grounds to support current needs and projected growth. A master facility plan was developed in 2002 that encompassed all parish needs and desires identified in the research phase. This entire plan was originally estimated to cost $6.9 million.

In early 2003, the executive committee of St. Jude's "Building for Today and Tomorrow" met with various parish groups for input regarding perceived top priorities. With this feedback, it was determined that the following areas of need would be addressed initially:

  • Construction of a parish center to include:
    • full-size gymnasium
    • meeting rooms
    • science and computer labs
    • library
    • additional storage space
    • walkways to connect the school and church.
      (All would be handicap accessible.)
  • Renovation of specific areas of the existing school to reclaim classroom space.

The proposed location of the new parish center will require demolition of the existing parish rectory. The rectory would be located in the home on parish grounds, which will need to be renovated to meet current housing codes. The cost for this is to be determined as well as the financing.

These prioritized needs were estimated at $2.3 million. (Note: This estimate reflects construction costs and full gymnasium equipment. The cost for new furnishings is not included as existing inventory of school furnishings will be used in the new areas initially.)
