EDUCATION COMMISSION
Education Commission meetings are held the 1st Tuesday of each month
in the undercroft meeting room at 7:45p.m. Any interested parishioners
are welcome to attend. Please note however that if you have a discussion
item, it must be on the agenda at least one week prior to the scheduled
meeting. You may contact Jerry Weber (jerry.weber@ctghs.com

Mission & Objectives
Just as
the Parish is, next to the family, the basic unit of the Christian
Community, so also the Parish Education Commission is the basic unit
for educational planning and policy making.
There
are two (2) important aspects of the Parish Education Commission
which should be emphasized;
1) The
Education Commission must be a total commission, that is, it must
concern itself not just with the Parish school, but also with pre-school,
religious education, adult education, and all other programs that
fall under the heading of formal, organized teaching and learning,
whether it be an on-going part of the Parish’s life, or a temporary
program.
2) The
Education Commission is to be concerned with policy, not rule. Policy
is defined as “discretionary guidelines for action”,
whereas a rule is a “specification of a policy”. A rule
tells exactly what is to be done, and usually leaves little room
for individual judgment. Rule-making is the administrator’s
function, and a method used to carry out the Commissions policies.
Another
important function of the Education Commission is to listen. It is
to be the group to which all members of the Parish can bring their
concerns and suggestions regarding the educational life of the Parish.
