Girls’ Volleyball is for girls in the 3rd – 8th grades. Girls’ volleyball competes in the Girls Western Athletic Conference (GWAC). More information can be found at gwacsports.com.
Players in grades 3-4 play in an instructional league with the true purpose being to teach the girls how to properly play the game and to develop necessary skills to become a better player.
Players in grades 5-6 will form combo teams, as will players in grades 7-8. Each grade level will have 3 levels of competition (A, B1, and B) and tryouts are held each year before the season to fairly determine on which team a girl will play.
Sign up is via Blue Sombrero from mid-May to mid-July. The cost is $65.
All games begin in early November. The 3rd-4th grade teams end the season before Christmas while the 5th-8th grade teams play into the month of January.
Girls going into grades 5th-8th can register for the St. Jude hosted summer league. Teams play eight games (no practices) against other St. Jude teams and local schools/club teams in June and July. Cost is $40 for 2019 and registration is in March. The girls receive tee shirts for uniforms which they get to keep.
